I feel so great, it's beyond words! I put up my IMPEACH letters at my house first thing in the morning yesterday. And got a "you've got to be kidding me" comment from a passerby. I wished him a "Happy Impeachment Day". He was not amused! ;-) Then it was onto Wyomissing for the first stop in our three stop rally. The response was overwhelming! While there were some middle fingers and Pro-Bush responses, most people were honking their horns, giving us peace or thumbs up signs in support. It gives me chills now just thinking back on it and realizing just how many people in this country are waking up to the reality. We did get a photographer from a weekly newspaper stop by and a camera man from a local news channel was driving past. He turned around and came back to interview Dorothy and shoot some footage. We were on the news and also there is a short story and video clip on their website. Here's the link http://wfmz.com/view/?id=90640 . However the local daily newspapers, which did receive press releases, did no coverage. I'm not surprised.
My favorite pro-Bush statement was the guy who told me I should go to Iraq, I'd look good in a Burqha. Okay...there was also the usual traitors, tree huggers and hippies. Oh, and get a job. Well, it was a Saturday and we all do have jobs, thank you very much!
I posted pictures of my letters as well as pics from all three stops in our progressive rally. I truly can't express in words how exhilirating the whole experience was. I know there is alot of work to do yet and that the reality of the picture as whole is not so bright. But it is days like yesterday that are so crucial for my soul. It is what gives me hope, feeds my optimism and tells me I need to keep going. I can't wait to read about and see pictures from other actions that happened yesterday. Peace & love to you all.
Thank you! Here, in the suburb of Phila. ( Bryn Mawr) as of today we did not get any coverage (although ABC News was there). I am now waitng for the local papers (weekly) to see if they would cover. The Philadelphia Inquirer: NADA!
My report in pictures:

Here we are in Bryn Mawr by the Ludington Library on Lancaster Avenue, 50 TRUE PATRIOTS
demanding justice for the endless crimes of the Bush administration. We got a wonderful
feed-back from the many cars, trucks and yes even a school bus passing by. Honks, more
honks and some more!
ABC News was there - nothing yet on the 6PM News, perhaps later?-
A business man tried to bring rain on our parade saying that we disrupted his work and his
clients. Hard to believe that, to this day, there are still people who do not see the gravity of the
state of our country, but again in a country where some do not even know the name of their
vice-president and/or still believe that 9/11 was tied with Saddam Hussein why should I be
surprised.
I attended to rally in Philadelphia, and marched right up front carrying the banner! It was good times with a rather large turnout! I'd say it all went fairly well as we had people on the sidewalks, coming out of stores and restaurants, and even on the tour buses clapping and cheering for us! One woman was even sweet enough to run out with water bottles for some us!
And I KNOW that there were a TON of people taking pictures the entire time, but I haven't been able to find any at all, much to my dismay *sighs* I'm hoping the Metro or the Bulletin will have something tomorrow, I'd love to have some pictures for memories...
Christina,
Time to write a letter to the INKY! In fact, if you are interested, we are planning to protest in front of their offices. Hey! If the new owner, Mr. Thierney could protest (that was in the 80's) in front of the Inquirer's offices because -he said- that the paper was "too liberal", I think that we can take the streets!
During one of the Media Tank's forum on the Media, I asked Satullo (editor) why the papers did not cover the protest (many philadelphians were repesented) in NYC (300,000 people attended last year in January), Satullo responded that he sees protests as "street theater!" better remind him that a very long time ago, News were in fact given on the streets!
:-)
Monique.
I did consider that, but figured the photos would be copyrighted and a whole bunch of other ridiculous things that would prevent them from just emailing some. But perhaps I will try anyway to see if they'll post any online =)
Hooray for independent media outlets! I was actually searching for pictures of the emergency response rally we had at City Hall today, when I stumbled across a bunch of photos and videos from Saturday, which can be found here. Enjoy! =D
you go babe!! i know i am not susposed to copy anything, but i just right click on any pix, click on save pix as, and print out copyrighted or not. one thing most people don't understand about this copyright lawis you can copy it, but cannot use it for commercial purposes. in otherwords you can not sell it or make money. so you got nothing to worry about.
ReCap of A28 while traveling through Nashville Tennessee. I took my Dad back to Vanderbilt University where he attended in less liberal times. We were on the campus on April 28th but saw nothing. Imagine a pretty liberal University and nothing. We drove around Nashville and saw nothing. Drove down I-24, I-40, 440W, and I-65 and saw "0". Maybe we could change the name to M28 and try again in May
Sorry to hear that. Believe me, I have been surprised to see how unaffected colleges are about GW and the Administration of Criminals. I have several college friends whose eyes I've been trying to open. Many of them still think that Iraq was involved in 9/11 attacks and many have no idea what a signing statement is. I remember my days in college - none of us fit the "mold" nor did we want to. Ahh, the good old days!! :-) Damn kids - no idea of how to rage against the machine!
I do think Iraq was involved in 9/11 either. I do believe they had weapons of mass destruction. Saddam was a weapon of mass destruction. I guess most of the kids are doing what you are supposed to be doing while in college, studying. By the way, did you rage against the machine equally? Like when a democrat is president?
