Today Steve Novick, a hard-core progressive hailing from Portland, Oregon, launched a new feature on the campaign’s website, letting you join the national petition to demand the House begin hearings on an impeachment resolution of Vice President Dick Cheney. The petition, launched last month by Representatives Robert Wexler (D-FL), Luis Gutierrez (D-IL), and Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), has almost passed the 175,000 signature mark in just three weeks. Yet despite this, the mainstream media has virtually ignored it. We are asking for your help to get the word out.

Steve declared his support for impeachment investigations in September 2007. He said that both false statements leading up to the war and the warrantless wiretapping of American citizens in apparent contravention of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, provide solid grounds for such investigations. Congressional leaders have said that an impeachment investigation is “off the table,” without explaining how they can reconcile such a position with a commitment to uphold the rule of law.
