About me
Mazeppa is a critic, historian and comparatist of religious literatures. An unreconstructed Utopian, fully cognizant of the ironies of his position, he dreams that he will live to see the dismantling of the United States' Military- Industrial-Complex through the active, non-violent, non-cooperation of its citizenry.

George McGovern's Op/Ed in the LA Times

Old George McGovern, God bless him, wrote an op/ed piece in today's LA Times where he opines that Bush and Cheney will be forced to resign before the end of 2008. If it happens, it won't be because of the compliant media or the pusillanimous "POO" (Party of Opposition), but on account of public pressure spurred by grass-roots efforts such as this one.

We must recognize now that impeachment is… Continue

Mazeppa, I certainly agree that we need to address our own problems first. My ideas towards that end are to develope a network across the country to advocate voting out most all Congressional incumbants until they begin to pay attention to "we the people" instead of lobbyists and parties. This is probably something we should have been doing for sometime now anyway. If we can bring this about we then need to push for legislation to modify(amend) our Constitution to add term limits for Congress and the Supreme Court, remove the judicial department from political contamination, much easier methods to remove elected officials from office, and many more changes to bring our government closer to Canada/Great Britains in operation. As you have pointed out we need to be very careful to make sure anything we do is peaceful and non-violent. To do otherwise would give the evil characters that are infesting our government an excuse to put us down in what ever manner they choose. It is too bad we need governments at all. They are the chief cause of wars and world conflicts. For our quest of world peace to ever have a chance the human race must learn to control our governments instead of vice versa. Boy, am I dreaming or what?

Mazeppa, I did not know about Lord Byron's poem concerning your namesake. Thank you for that info. In looking at your websites on your page I see we have much in common. I have been an avid Dylan fan since the early 60's. My mom always thought he and others were much to serious and dark in their outlooks on life. My purpose/interest in life is to bring peace and a at least a moderate level of prosperity and comfort to the entire human race. Removing military-industrial complexs everywhere is definitely a priority in this respect. Disarming the planet is a great idea but also a dangerous one at this time. It is better to make these arms un-necessary by raising the comfort levels of all peoples/governments. My primary method of choice for doing this would be a revised and emboldened UN. I would regionalize the UN into localized headquarters to keep problems contained within each region. There would be regions for the Middle East, Europe, Asia, North, South, and Central Americas. The Security Council would be made up of an elected representative of each region and no one else. I know it would be a major task, but one worth doing for all of us. Corporations would have to be controlled through this UN also. What thoughts do you have on achieving our objectives?

Mazeppa, Interesting name! You wouldn't be from around the Tulsa Oklahoma area would you? I ask because Gailard Sartain played a character of that name on a local TV late night movie show with Gary Busey(as Teddy jack Eddy) way back in the 60's and 70's. Anyhow, welcome to this site. I like your post on George McGovern and am looking forward to hearing more from you!

Hi, I love Annie Lennox since I was a little girl. I guess I admire strong women, divas. I chose this song because it has a very special message. Why is this world falling so fast and no many worry about it? Many more questions unanswered.
