I have a sympathetic farmer friend with a large hillside of dry grass facing (believe-it-or-not) a highway, a municipal airport approach, and a line-of-sight racetrack stadium ~ 1 km. The the letters of our 'WAR LIES!' had to be BIG. So we go to Lowes; buy two 9' X 400' rolls of plastic film (paint dept, $20/ea). This would be just enough to spell 'IMPEACH' about 50ft tall. We waited to roll our plastic out just before a predicted rainstorm. After the rain, we ignited the plastic-film and the dry grass underneath. It was as if the black letters on the tan tableau had been struck by a typewriter.
I could have done it all alone even under crop-circle secrecy but my farmer friend was the one who carried the other end of the roll of plastic film (otherwise I would have had to think about night-ops). We did a pilot on this. Didn't rain. Three quickly-aligned ($1/ea) Dollar-Store laser-pointers sure helped us midnight unrollers (experimental only) to keep the letters even, uniform and well-proportioned. Seventy foot-tall letters would need 3 rolls of 12' X 400', $24/ea.
With spring coming on, grass might be too green here by 4/28 but further north there are still brown fields.
