The permanent Republican majority: How a coterie of Republican heavyweights sent a governor to jail

Larisa Alexandrovna and Muriel Kane Monday November 26, 2007 Part one of a Raw Story Investigates series on the architects and the execution of backroom Republican politics For most Americans, the very concept of political prisoners is remote and exotic, a practice that is associated with third-world dictatorships but is foreign to the American tradition. The idea that a prominent politician -- a former state governor -- could be tried on charges that many observers consider to be trumped-up, c… Continue

NEW YORK - Phil Gramm, a top adviser to presidential candidate John McCain, is resigning from the role as campaign co-chairman after his comments that the United States had become a "nation of whiners" who constantly complain about the state of the economy. The former U.S. senator from Texas and past presidential candidate made the remarks earlier this month. McCain immediately distanced himself from the comments, but they have been criticized constantly as McCain tries to show he can help stee… Continue

Help Cindy Sheehan Get On The Ballot For Congress

We made a commitment to you that when the time came, we would do everything we could to help Cindy Sheehan. That time is now. Cindy Sheehan is making a courageous run for the Congressional seat in San Francisco, to challenge Nancy Pelosi, who has done nothing but cave in to the Bush/Cheney criminal war agenda, while the approval rating of Congress drops into single digits for the first time ever. But FIRST Cindy needs to get on the ballot, and to do that as an independent she still needs anoth… Continue

MJ,
I resonate with much of what I read here about you! And I'm *always* astounded at how active you are on this site!
Please read my post about the MAY 1st strike! It is ON in your state (CA) plus OR & WA. We're (http://PledgeToImpeach.ORG from your neck o' the woods) intending to make this nationwide.
If you agree (please feel free to comment!), let everyone you know become aware... THIS is our (last?) chance--for impeachment, for ending the occupation of Iraq, AT LEAST for forcing our topics into the presidential campaigns!
